1/21 Physics Class and homework due 1/28

Hi folks,

Today we spent a good amount of time going over  conservation of momentum problems.  These tend to be one of the tougher problems of the year.

For homework this week I'd like to you tackle the problems in the enclosed .pdf.   The answers are included so be sure to check yourself.  

Also point your trusty web browser to this page.   Underneath the simulation you'll see links for Exercise1, Exercise 2 and Exercise 3.  Please do all three exercises.  (They are pretty quick.)  Occasionally these pages seem to have some issues with certain browsers so if this doesn't work for you try a different browser.  I use Chrome and it works well for me.

Hi folks, Today we took a bit of a deeper look into light and began our unit on optics.  We will do more with optics next week. For homework this week…I've changed my mind.  :) Remember that extra credit assignment I was talking about in class, well let's make it homework with extra credit possibilities.   Here's the scoop.  Take a look at this article by Randal Monroe from his What If blog.    https://what-if.xkcd.com/3/   You'll see how he uses different physics concepts and applies them to real world things even though the situation is fictional.  (Unless somewhere out there Yoda really is hanging out on some swamp planet…it's possible.)   Now you do it.  Pick any book, movie, comic or video game and apply some of the things we've learned this year.  I've included one of my ex-students papers for example.  It's very good be sure to take a look. Caerus Summer Mini-Class in July

Hi everyone, I hope everyone is having a great summer.  I've been enjoying catching up on some reading and doing some much needed house/yardwork.
