11/26 Physics update and homework due 12/3

Hi folks, We have began our unit on Newton's three laws of motion.  Today we covered Newton's first law and introduced Newton's second.  We will be doing more with Newton's second in upcoming weeks.   For homework this week, Read pages 43 - 55 in the text book. Do Think and Explain questions # 1 - 12  on page 57     Best, Jim Mueller (919) 907-3217

11/12 Physics update and homework due 11/29

Hi folks, First off, NO CLASS next Monday due to the Thanksgiving break.  Enjoy that turkey and stuffing!!! Today we did a bit of work on the concepts of vectors and how to add them together to find final velocities.  We also did a fairly mathematically complex lab were the students had to predict the speed  a Hot Wheels car needed to cover a certain distance and the height that car needed to be dropped from to reach that speed.  The lab required some very tricky work with the formulas we've been working with the past few weeks. For homework this week,  Read pages 28 - 32 in the Conceptual Physics text book. Do the exercise on page 32. Do plug and chug questions # 1 - 5 on page 41 Do think and explain questions 1 - 2 on page 41 Do Think and Solve questions 1 - 6 on page 42. Answers below. Extra Credit Possibility!!!!!! For extra credit, use these videos to calculate the vertical velocity, horizontal velocity, resultant velocity and find the acceleration tha...

Science Class Information

Hi folks, Just wanted to let you all know that this week will be a normal week but the following week (Nov. 19 - 23) we will be off due to the Thanksgiving Holiday.  I hope everyone has safe travels and marvelous meals! Also, the end of the trimester is here so payments are due this week. Best, Jim Mueller (919) 907-3217

Best, Jim Mueller (919) 907-3217 Hi folks, This week we took our new found understanding of 2 dimensional motion and put it to the test by finding out the horizontal, vertical and resultant velocities of a dart shot out of a Nerf gun. This week we also went over a new problem typically called the "river problem".  It's a slightly different take on the 2 dimensional problems we've been working on so far.   For homework this week I want you guys to work with those pesky "river problems".  Once you get the hang of them they are pretty simple but it takes a while to get them straight.  The best way to get the hang of them is to do a bunch so….here you go!   I

Some outside work for physics

Hi folks, Today's plan is to spend a bit of time outside for physics so please be sure to have some outside clothes. See you all soon. Best, Jim Mueller (919) 907-3217

Video to help with homework

Hi folks, I was helping a student with some of the homework for this week and I recorded some of it just in case some other folks would like some help as well. Here you go.   https://youtu.be/QEuJrS_1haY Best, Jim Mueller (919) 907-3217
