There is currently a gate closing the west bound lane of Whitfield at Turkey Farm Road. The east bound lane is open to give access to those people who live in Creek Wood. It is not a minor repair and it is unknown at this time how long the work will take to complete.
PSNC is going to encase the gas line with a steel casing to prevent damage to the line during road reconstruction. The other two suspended lines in the ground are phone and AT&T fiber. Unless AT&T takes similar protective measures, fiber to our neighborhood could be cut. The SSPOA requests that AT&T customers call their service number to advise them of the problem at Whitfield Road and request protective measures be put in place for the AT&T line.
In addition, motorists may now try to use Turkey Farm Road as a bypass to the Whitfield Road closure. The SSPOA requests homeowners to let us know if speeding becomes a problem. (Report the speeding incidents to directors@sspoa.org). The SSPOA will request that the Sheriff or Highway Patrol monitor the road."
